  1. c. 1485–1550Brunei Town · BruneiHe succeeded to the sultanate, consolidated Brunei's rule over northern Borneo, and began extending his sphere into surrounding waters.
  2. 1551–1575Brunei Town · BruneiBrunei's power extended to Sarawak, Sabah, and Sulu in the Philippines, controlling the spice and maritime trade routes, with the state at its height.
  3. 1576–1582Brunei Town · BruneiIn his later years he maintained a vast maritime empire and died in 1582; later generations named the capital after him and honored him as one of Brunei's greatest sultans.
