1341–1350Constantinople · ConstantinopleDuring the civil war, Helena, as wife of John V, stayed in the Palaiologos camp while maintaining ties between the two imperial houses as daughter of John VI. After the 1347 peace she played a mediating role in the co-ruling court; in 1348 she bore her eldest son Andronikos IV, further consolidating the marriage alliance and the empire's outward unity.
