Timeline
- 1491–1495Taungoo · BurmaMinyinyo became ruler of Taungoo in 1485, still nominally subject to the northern Ava Kingdom. By the early 1490s, through reorganizing local administration, strengthening the military household system, and developing the rice economy, he turned Taungoo from a frontier town into a regional polity with independent military capability.
- 1495–1498Sittaung River basin · BurmaIn the mid-to-late 1490s, Taungoo fought repeatedly against the Ava Kingdom and neighboring powers such as Pegu and Prome. Minyinyo expanded control along the Sittaung River basin, gradually shedding his purely vassal status and becoming a key variable in the political chessboard of Lower Burma.
- 1498–1500Lower Burma · BurmaBy around 1500, Taungoo controlled the extensive rice-producing regions of the lower Sittaung, with military strength sufficient to stand against Ava. Though Burma was not yet unified, the accumulation of the 1490s made Taungoo the core force in Burma's 16th-century political reorganization, and his son Tabinshwehti would complete unification in the 1530s.
