  1. 1018Yalu River line · GoryeoLiao general Xiao Paiya led a great army across the Yalu River to invade; Goryeo frontier forces at one point retreated, and Liao forces penetrated deep into the peninsula's northwest.
  2. 1018–1019Cheongcheon River basin · GoryeoGoryeo appointed Gang Hangzan as Military Commissioner of the Northwestern Circuit, adopting scorched-earth tactics, building dikes to store water, and other strategies to weaken Liao logistics and create conditions for water attacks.
  3. 1019Giju · GoryeoGoryeo forces launched a general offensive near Giju; the Liao army was badly defeated and fled north. Goryeo pursued to the Yalu River, and Liao's third invasion of Goryeo ended in a disastrous defeat.
