Kılıç Arslan II

Kılıç Arslan II (c. 1107–1192), son of Seljuk Sultan of Rum Mesud I, succeeded as Sultan of Rum in 1156 and ruled Anatolia for nearly forty years.

1121–1130Konya (Iconium) · TurkeyIn the 1120s, Kılıç Arslan II grew up at the court in Konya as son of Mesud I. The Sultanate of Rum was then dealing with the aftermath of the Second Crusade and border pressure from the Byzantine Komnenian dynasty, giving him experience that underpinned his later long rule of Anatolia.
