Timeline
- 1130Jiankang · JiangsuFrom winter of Jianyan 3 to spring of Jianyan 4, Wanyan Zongbi led Jin forces deep into Jiangnan, burning and plundering Lin'an and Mingzhou before returning north. Han Shizhong predicted they must cross the river at Zhenjiang and took the river mouth first with his fleet to intercept.
- 1130Huangtiandang · Lower YangtzeHan Shizhong sealed the river surface with sea-going ships; the Jin's small boats could not match them and were trapped in the Huangtiandang area for about 48 days. Sources say his wife Liang Hongyu personally beat the drum to direct the battle. Zongbi repeatedly sought battle and a way through, all without success.
- 1130Zhenjiang · JiangsuThe Jin used the old course of the Laoguan River or newly dug channels to bypass the river blockade, then burned Han's sea ships with fire arrows and finally crossed north. The Song failed to annihilate them, but the battle shattered the impression of Jin invincibility, delayed their operations in the Jianghuai region, and bought time for the Southern Song to consolidate in Jiangnan.
