  1. 1086Bianjing Imperial Palace · KaifengAfter Empress Dowager Gao began ruling from behind the curtain, she summoned Fan Chunren to the capital and appointed him Right Vice Director of the Department of State Affairs and Vice Director of the Secretariat, and Jointly Administering Affairs of State, sharing control of court affairs with Lü Dafang. Fan Chunren, son of Fan Zhongyan, advocated gentle and simple governance and abolishing the harsh minutiae of the New Policies, initiating the Yuanyou Reform.
