Timeline

  1. 1613–1614Hanyang · JoseonAfter King Seonjo's death, the Small Northern faction had plotted to install Grand Prince Yeongchang. After Great Northern leaders Jeong In-hong and Yi Eul-chan took power, they executed Yeongchang's maternal grandfather Kim Ti-nam and other royal in-laws on charges of treason in 1613; Grand Prince Yeongchang was exiled and killed in 1614. This was the Gyeichu Prison Case, not the Eulmyo Prison Case, nor an Eastern purge of the Western faction.
  2. 1618Hanyang · JoseonIn 1618, the Great Northern faction stripped Queen Inmok of her title and confined her, while also imprisoning Princess Jeongmyeong. The already-open English Wikipedia states that Gwanghaegun was powerless to stop it. The Western faction used the rescue of Queen Inmok as a pretext in the 1623 restoration.
