  1. 1357Sarai · Astrakhan OblastAfter Jani Beg died of plague in 1357, Berdibek acceded at Sarai, becoming the nominal supreme ruler of the khanate. However, the princes and noyans were divided, and his authority was challenged from the very beginning of his reign.
  2. 1358–1359Sarai · Astrakhan OblastDuring his reign Berdibek failed to effectively quell the infighting among princes, and his control over the Russian principalities continued to decline. In 1359 he was assassinated in the power struggle, and the Golden Horde fell into even more frequent changes of ruler.
