Timeline
- 801–850Chang'an grand granary · Shaanxi ProvinceSoutheastern tribute grain was shipped via the Grand Canal to Luoyang and Chang'an, entering the grand granary, Hanjia granary, and other capital granaries, disbursed monthly for officials' stipends, imperial guard rations, and palace expenses, with the Court of Agricultural Services and grain transport commissioners responsible for receipt and disbursement.
- 851–900Granaries of the two Tang capitals and surrounding prefectures · Henan ProvinceRegional governors intercepting transport levies, canal silting, and wartime destruction sharply reduced grand granary intake; ever-normal granary relief functions weakened, and the court largely relied on Jianghuai grain transport commissioners to barely maintain military provisions for the two capitals, accelerating the trend of the granary system existing in name only.
