Timeline
- 1601–1609Shangqiu · HenanAfter the defeat at Ulsan, Yang Hao was ordered to await investigation. Once the eastern expedition concluded, memorials by supervising secretary Yang Yingwen and others recounted his merits, and an edict permitted his reappointment; yet over the following decade he held no actual post or assignment, mostly residing in his native Shangqiu. During this time Liaodong's frontier defenses gradually weakened and Jianzhou Jurchen power expanded, setting the background for his later recall.
- 1610Liaodong · LiaodongIn the intercalary third month of the thirty-eighth year of Wanli, Yang Hao was recalled as Right Vice Censor-in-Chief to serve as Governor of Liaodong. After taking up his post he led troops to raid the Mongol Chao Hua at Zhen'an, returning with captured kills. Soon after, censor Tian Shengjin impeached him for provoking frontier conflict, and his strong recommendation of Li Rumei as a general drew impeachment from supervising secretary Ma Xi and censor Yang Zhouhe; he submitted a defense and requested retirement. The Shenzong emperor did not pursue the matter, and Yang Hao ultimately resigned and departed.
