  1. 1573Kyoto · KyotoEnglish Wikipedia: In 1573 Yoshiaki sought aid from Takeda Shingen, who defeated Tokugawa at Mikatagahara but then died of illness and never reached Kyoto; Yoshiaki still rose in revolt and eventually surrendered to Nobunaga. Chinese Wikipedia: Yoshiaki had earlier united Takeda, Mōri, Uesugi, Asakai, Azai, and Hongan-ji into the anti-Nobunaga encirclement. This entry does not treat the unverified 'siege of Nijō Castle' as a separate battle name.
  2. 1573Kyoto · KyotoNobunaga spared Yoshiaki's life but expelled him from Kyoto. Chinese Wikipedia records the place of exile as Wakae Castle, residence of Miyoshi Yoshi-tsugu in Kawachi, where Yoshiaki still opened shogunal government; later, as Nobunaga's relations with the Miyoshi worsened, he moved to Sakai in Izumi on the fifth day of the eleventh month. Wakasa was a refuge before his 1568 entry into Kyoto, not his 1573 place of exile. Yoshiaki never formally resigned as shogun and still held the title around 1588.
