- 1644Marston Moor · North YorkshireAbout 40,000 men faced each other all day. Around seven in the evening the coalition launched a general assault; Cromwell's Ironsides on the left broke through the Royalist cavalry and Prince Rupert's troops routed. The Royalists lost about 4,000 killed and about 1,500 captured, and Northern Royalist power never recovered.
