- 1278–1279Seven Rivers region · Seven Rivers regionKaidu's forces expanded across the Seven Rivers and north and south of the Tianshan, forming an east–west standoff with the princes of Transoxiana; though nominally still a Mongol vassal, the Chagatai Khanate had in fact split into multiple uncoordinated political units, laying the groundwork for the long Kaidu–Duwa wars of the 1280s.
