  1. 1524–1525Expedition route from Guatemala to Chiapas · Central AmericaCortés marched south to campaign against the rebel commander Cristóbal de Olde, taking Cuauhtémoc and several Aztec nobles along; during the march the army suffered from shortages of supplies and low morale.
  2. 1525Ixcanaque · ChiapasCortés ordered Cuauhtémoc and his chief minister Tecuichpo hanged on charges of treason. According to chronicles, Cuauhtémoc denounced Cortés's treachery with his dying words.
