After his daughter was made empress he was promoted to Defense Commissioner of Jingzhou; for his merit in suppressing the Xiao Heda rebellion he was enfeoffed as Duke of Xiping and appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Xiangqing Army.

The Ren brothers dominated Xia politics, with ceremonial retinue resembling the emperor's, repeatedly rebuffed by remonstrances from Wodaochong and Rela Gongji.
  3. 1165–1170Lingzhou, Xiping Prefecture · Xiping PrefectureIn the seventeenth year of Tiansheng he built a palace at Xiping Prefecture. In the intercalary fifth month of 1170 he coerced Renzong into ceding the southwestern route and areas such as Luopangling at Lingzhou as the State of Chu. His request for Jin investiture as King of Chu was refused by Shizong, so he turned to the Southern Song to arrange a joint attack on Jin. In August the plot was exposed, and Renzong, with Jin support, executed the Ren brothers.
