Timeline

  1. 1411–1415Trowulan · JavaDuring Wikramawardhana's reign, the centralized system established since the era of Gajah Mada continued, with a Hindu-Buddhist syncretic ideology sustaining royal authority. The capital Trowulan remained the archipelago's political and cultural center, and the court continued compiling works such as the Nagarakretagama to proclaim the empire's orthodoxy.
  2. 1411–1420Strait of Malacca and Sunda Strait · Strait of MalaccaParameswara (the later Sultan of Malacca) had established an independent port kingdom at Malacca and received investiture from the Ming dynasty. Majapahit's suzerainty over Palembang and the straits ports was challenged; though the imperial navy remained active in the Java Sea and Bali Strait, it could hardly stem the rise of the new power on the Malay Peninsula.
  3. 1415–1420Bali and Lombok · Lesser Sunda IslandsMajapahit continued to exercise suzerainty over eastern islands such as Bali and Lombok, whose rulers regularly paid tribute to the Javanese royal house. The empire sustained control over the Lesser Sunda Islands through religious ceremonies and marriage alliances, its core region of effective rule in the 1410s.
