  2. 1378–1381Chioggia and the Venetian Lagoon · Venetian LagoonVenice and its Genoese allies fought a prolonged naval war at Chioggia, with heavy losses of fleets and galleys. After the 1381 peace treaty, the Arsenal entered a period of intensive reconstruction, needing to replace rowers, timber, and armaments, testing the Republic's finances and labor mobilization system.
