Timeline

  1. c. 1191–1195Acre · PalestineAfter the fall of Acre in 1191 it became the kingdom's new center; the mint produced silver diniers bearing crosses and the monarch's name, as well as copper coins imitating Islamic styles, used for garrison pay and port trade. The coinage also referenced French denier and Ayyubid silver weight standards to suit local exchange.
  2. c. 1196–1200Tyre · LebanonIn the late 1190s, port cities such as Tyre and Acre simultaneously circulated Crusader silver coins, ultra-pure Byzantine gold coins, and Ayyubid dinars; Latin coinage combined European heraldry with Eastern Arabic script decoration, making it the most vivid sample of cross-civilizational monetary fusion in the eastern Mediterranean.
