  1. 1361Tongzhou, Dadu grain transport wharves · North ChinaIn the 1360s, amid frequent warfare, the Yuan court still shipped Jiangnan grain north to Dadu via the Grand Canal, entering the capital along the Tonghui Canal, maintaining the capital's grain reserves and official salaries; the system of grain barges, locks, and escorting troops had not yet fully collapsed by the end of the Yuan.
  2. 1368–1370Yingtian Prefecture (Nanjing) · East ChinaAfter Zhu Yuanzhang founded the Ming, he took over the Yuan's grain transport facilities; when the capital was first established at Nanjing, supplies relied mainly on Yangtze river transport and sea transport, while locks, dams, and grain barge regulations along the Grand Canal were also put in order, laying the foundation for later full-canal grain transport and the northward shipment of southern grain after the capital moved to Beijing.
