Timeline

  1. 1051–1053Huanzhou (present-day Huan County, Qingyang, Gansu) · GansuAfter Li Yuanhao was assassinated in 1048, the child ruler Li Liangzuo succeeded him with Empress Dowager Mozang as regent; frontier garrison commanders changed frequently, and military discipline and mutual-market management grew lax. Northern Song strengthened scouts along the Huanzhou-Yuanzhou line, and occasional skirmishes and cross-border raids occurred between mounted patrols.
  2. 1054–1057Hengshan region, Yanzhou · HengshanThe Hengshan region was a strategic point for Song and Xia, with cavalry repeatedly contesting pastures and routes. Western Xia raiders penetrated deep into Yanzhou's counties to plunder, and Song forces also sortied beyond the frontier to counterattack, forming small-scale seesaw warfare, but without breaking the general peace framework established since the Chanyuan Treaty.
  3. 1058–1060Yanzhou · ShaanxiThrough frontier commissioners and exchanges with Western Xia envoys, the Song court constrained the scale of local clashes. Both sides exchanged envoys and maintained nominal tributary and investiture relations, but cross-border raids still occurred from time to time, foreshadowing larger-scale conflicts in the later Qingli era.
