  1. 1583–1601Jianzhou Jurchen region · ManchuriaNurhaci rose in arms to avenge his father and grandfather, gradually conquering the Zhechen, Hunhe, and other Jianzhou Jurchen tribes, and introduced the prototype of the Eight Banner system to organize his followers.
  2. 1607–1610Liaodong frontier · NortheastNurhaci continued campaigning east and west, successively annexing the Haixi tribes including Hada (1601) and Huifa (1607); by around 1610 he had basically completed the unification of the Jianzhou Jurchens and neighboring tribes; the Yehe tribe was not fully conquered until 1619.
