- 1697Nieuwe Hof at Ryswick · Dutch RepublicOn 20 September France signed separate treaties with England, Spain, and the Dutch Republic: Louis XIV recognized William III as king of England and pledged not to aid any power attempting to disturb his possession; Spain recovered Catalonia and several barrier fortresses in the Netherlands; the Dutch obtained more favorable commercial arrangements. The Emperor's side temporarily refused to sign.

The maritime powers took no continental territory.
