  1. 1371–1375Moscow–Tver · RussiaDmitry long contested with Tver's Grand Prince Mikhail Alexandrovich the title of Grand Prince of Vladimir, invested by the Golden Horde, and the privilege of 'collecting Tatar tribute.' In 1371 Dmitry first defeated Mikhail, but the Horde's authority still swung repeatedly between the two, and Moscow's advantage gradually solidified by around 1375.
  2. 1375Dmitrov · RussiaLithuanian Grand Prince Algirdas advanced on Moscow with his army; after facing off near Dmitrov, Dmitry negotiated peace. The treaty confirmed some concessions on Moscow's claims of suzerainty over Smolensk and elsewhere, but postponed the eastern threat, allowing Dmitry to concentrate on the Golden Horde to the south and internal consolidation.
  3. 1376–1380Moscow Kremlin · RussiaDmitry carried out local administrative reforms, strengthened his retinue (druzhina), and built Moscow Kremlin fortifications of white stone. At the same time he allied with monastery leaders such as Sergius of Radonezh, making the church a spiritual bond uniting the principalities and mobilizing broad forces against Mamai.
