  1. 1506Herat · HeratThe last powerful Timurid ruler, Husayn Bayqara, died in Herat; his sons contested the throne, and the city's defenses and administration fell into chaos, creating conditions for foreign invasion.
  2. 1507Herat · HeratMuhammad Shaybani marched in at the invitation of one side in the Timurid civil war, besieging and capturing Herat. Timurid descendants fled into exile or submitted, the Timurid cultural polity centered on Herat came to an end, and Khorasan entered a period of Uzbek rule.
