999–1003Prague · BohemiaSucceeded after the death of Boleslaus II in 999, opposed by the nobility for his tyranny; deposed and exiled in 1002, he returned to power in 1003 with the army of Polish duke Bolesław I, only to be captured and blinded by the Poles, imprisoned in Poland, where he died around 1037.
