  1. 1481–1482Granada · AndalusiaIn 1481 Ferdinand and Isabella of Castile launched a new round of conquest, and Abu'l-Hasan Ali led Granada's forces in resistance. The war drained the kingdom's strength and deepened court divisions over continuing the fight versus making peace, laying the groundwork for his son Boabdil's coup in 1482.
  2. 1482–1485Málaga · AndalusiaBoabdil seized the throne in a 1482 revolt, and Abu'l-Hasan Ali withdrew to Málaga. After Boabdil's capture in 1483 he briefly regained the throne, but when Abu'l-Hasan again held power in 1484–1485 he could no longer reverse the decline, dying around 1485. Granada's internal strife hastened the kingdom's fall.
