- 1622Höchst crossing on the Main · HesseGeorge Frederick led Baden and Württemberg reinforcements in an attempt to cross the Main and join Mansfeld and Brunswick. Tilly, with about 18,000 Imperial-League troops, established defenses along the Höchst line to intercept them.
- 1622Höchst battlefield · HesseAfter several hours of fierce fighting, the Protestants broke through parts of the line but failed to rout Tilly's main force and were forced to abandon about 70 guns in their retreat. Brunswick was wounded in the battle, and the Protestant coalition's plan for coordinated operations in the upper Rhine was thwarted.
