Timeline

  1. c. 960–1127Jingdezhen, Fuliang, Raozhou · JiangxiDuring the Northern Song, kilns around Jingdezhen in Raozhou gradually reached scale, beginning to fire porcelain with a glaze color between green and white, using a dual recipe of local kaolin and porcelain stone, laying the foundation for the qingbai porcelain technological system.
  2. c. 1127–1279Hutian kiln site · JingdezhenIn the Southern Song, the Hutian kiln developed mature techniques of saggars stacking and reduction-flame temperature control; the qingbai glaze achieved stable coloration, with forms ranging from bowls and cups to vases, jars, and sculptures, reaching the peak of Song porcelain production in both quantity and quality.
  3. 1211–1220Quanzhou port · FujianBetween 1211 and 1220, Southern Song maritime trade remained flourishing; Jingdezhen qingbai porcelain was exported in large quantities to Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean via ports such as Quanzhou, kilns continued to expand production, and firing technology spread overseas along trade networks, influencing local ceramic industries.
  4. 1271–1368Jingdezhen · JiangxiIn the early Yuan, the Fuliang Porcelain Bureau was established; qingbai firing techniques still dominated in the early Yuan, providing the kilns, raw materials, and craftsmen for the later technological upgrades of blue-and-white and underglaze red porcelain, thereby consolidating Jingdezhen's status as the porcelain capital.
