- 1086–1091Strait of Gibraltar and Al-Andalus · Al-AndalusAfter the victory at the Battle of Zarqa in 1086, the Almoravid army crossed the sea into Iberia on a large scale and merged with local Andalusian forces. Garrisons used fortress cities as nodes, with North African reinforcements rotating regularly, forming a cross-strait troop deployment mechanism that checked the southward advance of Castile-León.
- 1111–1120Andalusian frontier south of the Tagus · Al-AndalusDuring this period the Almoravid army contended with Christian coalitions on multiple fronts, south of Toledo and west of Zaragoza.
