- 1177–1310Dublin · LeinsterDublin Castle was the English administrative hub in Ireland, where parliament regularly met from 1297 onward, and an Anglo-Norman town and wall system formed on the south bank of the River Liffey.
- 1315–1318Dublin · LeinsterIn February 1317 the Bruce brothers encamped at Castlenock and advanced on Dublin; citizens burned suburbs such as Thomas Street, dismantled the Dominican friary for stone to reinforce the north wall, and cut bridges to hold out, forcing the Scottish army to turn aside.
- 1320Dublin · LeinsterIn 1320 Archbishop Alexander de Bicknor founded a university at St Patrick's Cathedral, and that same year parliament also convened in Dublin, marking the colonial city's search for institutional and cultural reconstruction after the scars of war.
