  1. c. 1370–1394Delhi · DelhiSon of Sultan Muhammad Shah III, he grew up in the late Tughlaq court, witnessing the dynasty's decline and regional separatism.
  2. 1394–1412Delhi · DelhiAfter acceding in 1394 in place of his brother, he rivaled Nusrat Shah with rival courts at Delhi and Firozabad. In 1398 Timur invaded; Delhi fell and was sacked, the sultanate was gravely weakened, and regions declared independence one after another.
