Injuids in Shiraz (1340s)

Type Event Region West Asia Time 1341–1350

The Injuid dynasty held Fars and Shiraz from the late Ilkhanate period; the 1340s were the final phase of its autonomy.

Timeline

  1. 1341–1342Shiraz · FarsAfter Sharaf al-Din Mahmud Shah Injuid was killed in the mid-1330s, his sons and the Chobanids repeatedly contested Fars. In the early 1340s, Jalal al-Din Mas'ud Shah and others successively governed Shiraz; after Mas'ud Shah's death in 1342, family rule briefly fragmented.
  2. 1343–1347Fars · FarsAfter Abu Ishaq Injuid acceded in 1343, the Muzaffarids pressed steadily southward from the north. In the mid-1340s, Injuid forces clashed repeatedly across Fars with the forces of Mubarez al-Din Muhammad and Shah Shuja, losing some outlying towns, though Shiraz's core remained under Injuid control.
  3. 1348–1350Shiraz · FarsBy around 1350, although the Injuid dynasty still held Shiraz, its effective domain had contracted greatly, relying on city defenses and local alliances to resist Muzaffarid expansion. The 1340s were a key transitional period in which this post-Ilkhan local regime went from prosperity to decline, ultimately leading to its downfall in the 1350s.
