Timeline
- 1091–1095Frontier south of Toledo · CastileAfter the disastrous defeat at Sagrajas in 1086, Alfonso VI adjusted his strategy, using Toledo—captured in 1085—as a forward base, but the southward advance was blocked. The Almoravids consolidated their suzerainty over the taifa kingdoms of Andalusia, and the two sides faced off across the Tagus.
- 1096–1100Central Iberian frontier · SpainCommanders on both sides launched numerous raids and counterattacks in Extremadura, La Mancha, and the northern Andalusian frontier. Christian powers relied on independent armed forces such as the Cid to defend the eastern front, but failed to break Almoravid control over the southern Muslim world.
