Envoy exchanges were routine diplomacy sustaining the Goryeo–Liao peace framework, also involving investiture rites and border trade arrangements.
  2. 1035–1040Korean Peninsula · GoryeoGoryeo maintained a border defense system along the Yalu River, keeping practical autonomy under nominal vassalage to Liao.
