Timeline
- 1562–1565Komárom · KomáromAs the Ottomans kept up pressure in central Hungary, the Habsburgs strengthened the bastion systems of Komárom and Raab (Győr), added shore artillery positions, and streamlined Danube transport and supply, transforming the fortress chain from scattered strongpoints into a mutually supporting defense in depth.
- 1566Raab (Győr) · GyőrAfter Süleyman I died during the siege of Szigetvár, the Habsburgs urgently rushed reinforcements and engineering materiel toward Raab and Vienna, expanding shore defenses and grain storage facilities, and elevating the Danube fortress chain into the last land barrier against the Ottoman advance southward.
- 1568–1570Vienna · ViennaAfter the Peace of Adrianople (1568) the front temporarily stabilized; the Habsburgs used Vienna as the command and logistics hub, standardizing garrison rotation, arsenals, and river patrols along the Komárom–Raab–Vienna sector, creating a sustainable long-term mode of operating the fortress chain.
