1010–1015Hamadan · HamadanAfter curing Buyid amir Shams al-Dawla's ailments, Avicenna was appointed vizier, balancing state affairs and medical practice at the politically turbulent Buyid court while continuing to write and teach.
1010–1020Ray · RayDuring his time in Ray and Hamadan, Avicenna completed the five-volume medical encyclopedia Canon of Medicine and began systematically writing the great work of philosophy and natural science, The Book of Healing; according to his disciple Juzjani, he dictated as many as fifty pages a day.
