Timeline

  1. 1301–1307Yasodharapura · Siem Reap ProvinceBetween 1301 and 1307, while Indravarman III was still on the throne, Indrajayavarman, as a member of the royal family, was active in the city of Yasodharapura. By this period the Angkor empire had contracted from its zenith and faced pressure from neighboring states such as Siam, yet the court still maintained Hindu Shaivite rituals and administrative systems. The end of Indravarman III's reign before 1308 paved the way for his succession.
  2. 1308–1310Yasodharapura · Siem Reap ProvinceIn 1308 Indrajayavarman succeeded Indravarman III and established his capital at Yasodharapura. An inscription at Vat Kok Kop temple in 1309 records that the previous reign ended in 1308, confirming the date of his accession. The early part of his reign still followed the tradition of Sanskrit stone inscriptions; scholars regard this period as a key node in the transition from classical to late Angkor civilization, and in 1320 the History of Yuan also records a Chinese mission to Champa to purchase elephants.
