Timeline
- c. 1518Valladolid · Castile and LeónRegent Adrian announced the reorganization of the Council of Castile, dismissing some Flemish and Burgundian councillors and filling seats with Castilian grand nobles, bishops, and city representatives, responding to local discontent over foreign favourites holding power.
- c. 1518Valladolid · Castile and LeónThe new council, composed mainly of Castilian nobles and church leaders, was responsible for deliberating on taxes, loans for the imperial election, and local petitions. Although the reform drew in some native elites, it failed to meet the city councils' demands for parliamentary representation and self-government, and new conflicts arose among the nobility over the division of spoils.
