c. 1068–1089Angers · AngersErmengarde was a daughter of Fulk IV, grew up at the court of Anjou, and through her family's marriage network established ties with nobles of Lorraine, Blois, and other regions.
1090–1146Poitou · PoitouAfter marrying William IX around 1090 she presided over the court at Poitou, served as regent during her husband's many campaigns, mediated disputes between vassals and the Church, and took part in arranging her children's inheritance, consolidating ducal order.
