1292Singhasari · East JavaKing Kertanagara of Singhasari was assassinated by the general Jayakatwang; his son-in-law Raden Wijaya went into exile seeking foreign aid, and Java descended into civil war.
1292–1293East Java · East JavaAfter the Yuan expeditionary force (sent to punish Kertanagara's refusal of tribute) arrived in Java, Wijaya allied with it to defeat Jayakatwang, but soon faced the threat of Yuan occupation.
1293Trowulan · East JavaWijaya launched a counterattack to expel the remaining Yuan forces and formally established the Majapahit kingdom at Trowulan, taking the name Kertarajasa and inaugurating a new dynasty.
