Timeline
- 1131–1135Firozkoh · GhurIzz al-Din Husayn had served as malik of Ghur since around 1100, restoring order and strengthening highland rule after early turmoil. In the 1130s Ghur remained centered around Firozkoh, without large-scale expansion toward the Herat plain or a peer challenge to Khwarazm.
- 1136–1140Herat · KhorasanSeljuk Sultan Sanjar once invaded Ghur and captured Izz al-Din Husayn, later releasing him and demanding tribute. After Sanjar installed Bahram-Shah in Ghazni in 1118, Ghazni's old suzerainty over Ghur weakened, but in the 1130s Ghur still had not achieved independent sultan status. Izz al-Din died around 1146 and was succeeded by his son Sayf al-Din Suri.
