142Heming Mountain · SichuanZhang Daoling founded the Way of the Five Pecks of Rice in the Ba-Shu region, calling himself Celestial Master. He used talismans to heal the sick, required followers to pay five pecks of rice as a condition of joining, and established an early Daoist communal organization later known as the Celestial Masters.
