1. 1617Louvre, Paris · FranceLouis XIII and his favorite Luynes secretly plotted, on the grounds that Concini had redeployed troops without authorization and threatened royal power, to have him arrested and executed at Amboise while preparing to control the queen mother and her faction.
2. 1617Amboise · FranceConcini was arrested by the royal guard at Amboise and executed on the spot; his wife Leonora Galigai was subsequently also put to death. The Medici queen mother was sent to Blois under house arrest, Luynes became chief minister, and Louis XIII began to truly rule in his own right.
