- 1228Brindisi · ApuliaOn 28 June 1228 Frederick II sailed from Brindisi with his fleet, crossing the Adriatic and eastern Mediterranean. The fleet was limited in size but carried imperial authority and a diplomatic mission, aimed at the Holy Land rather than large-scale field conquest.
- 1228Cyprus · CyprusThe fleet arrived in Cyprus in July to rest; Frederick handled the island's politics and assessed the Holy Land situation. He then continued eastward, preparing to land at Acre and open diplomatic negotiations with the Sultan of Egypt, as the Sixth Crusade entered its substantive phase of action.
